iaz clothing Nigeria is an upcoming clothing line that kicked off in Abuja years ago. It is well known for outstanding men outfits and designs produced from different fabrics that would thrill you. We got in touch with the MD/CEO of the company and he had a lot to share concerning the birth of his company. Be inspired as we take you through his success story…….

o Introduce yourself;

My name is Akhibge Solomon Imoukhuede. I am the MD/CEO of Siaz Clothing Nigeria. I am from Edo state and a full, fledged Nigerian.

o We wanna get to know you!

I was born on 28^th July in Benin City, Edo state. I am the second child and only son in the midst of four girls. I attended Garrick memorial nursery, primary and secondary school as well there in Benin city. I got admission into Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma for my tertiary education where I studied industrial mathematics. Upon my graduation, I was posted to Lagos state for my youth service -There, I was fully exposed to the fashion world. Thereafter, I relocated to Abuja to start up my clothing line entirely and it has been an awesome experience so far.

o Who/what inspired you to do what you do?

My love for fashion designing stirred up while I was in the university so I can say that the world I lived in then inspired me. Also, an exposure to runway modeling under the mentorship of Bayo Adegbe popularly known as “Modella” served as another inspiration- Bayo is an award winning fashion designer based in Lagos state. He inspired me and also taught me all the things I needed to know about the fashion industry ranging from colour combination, styling and designing as well as branding and textiles. I was so motivated afterwards though learning how to sew wasn’t part of the plan but because of the incompetency of some tailors, I was forced into it.

o #Tellthetruth! What are the hitches, challenges and negativities you faced/are currently facing in your business?

Making clothes is not easy at all. You have to think of the right fabric to use, the designs to create, colour combination, etc. Truth be told, there is no style that has not been made before so you have to look for ways to make your designs matchless and that can be an issue sometimes. Secondly, repeating designs is also a place to look at so you have to be on your toes to think of something different to make. Thirdly, getting the right fabric could be very tough sometimes- you might have the colours stuck in your head but no access to it. Then again, your customers! If you have customers that do not understand or are impatient, you might end up behind bars if something goes wrong…… lol…..least I forget, NEPA!!!!!!……We spend so money buying fuel because of inadequate power supply in the nation and it's so frustrating most times.
